The Badlands Petrified Gardens showcases petrified wood and other agates found in the Badlands area.

How Much Is It:

Cheap South Dakota Activity: Mammoth Site

What Is It:
The Mammoth Site, located in Hot Springs, is the world’s largest mammoth research facility. You can tour an active paleontological dig site and view Ice Age fossils exhibited as they are found.

How Much is It:
FREE Ages 3 & Under, Ages 4 to 12 $6.50, Ages 13 to 59 $8.50, Ages 60 and over $8.

Hours:
May 15 – August 15 8 am to 8 pm, with last tour at 7:00 p.m. August 16 – August 31 8 am to 6 pm, with last tour at 5 pm. September 1 – October 31 9am to 5 pm, with last tour at 4 pm. November 1- February 28 (Monday-Sat.) 9 am to 3:30 pm, with last tour at 2:30 pm. (Sunday) 11 am to 3:30 pm, with last tour at 2:30 pm. March 1- May 14 9 am to 5pm, with last tour at 4 pm.

The Black Hills Mining Museum is located in the city of Lead. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of the rich mining heritage of the Black Hills of South Dakota.
